Professor Marlene Lundvall had a comic sculpture assemblage at the Kathryn Shultz Gallery in Cambridge.
Professor John Tramondozzi, Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Math Professor David Daggett were named in Who's Who Among America's Teachers for excellence in teaching.
Curry faculty artists received continued recognition in Fall 2004 for their work. Professor Elizabeth Strasser was invited by Michael Guadagno, a sculptor and curator from the Barn Workshop Gallery in Danvers, to show eight of her paintings in a group exhibit of paintings and sculptures, which included a November reception at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort in Danvers. Professor Strasser also showed paintings and ceramics at the 2nd annual Hyde Park Open Studios in December 2004, and where she was joined by Associate Professor Laurie Alpert and Assistant Professor Iris Kumar, representing EES Arts Printmaking..
PAL ENDEAVORS
Senior Lecturer Paula Cocce facilitated two workshops for the PAC (Parents Advisory Committee) in Cohasset, MA. A Study Skills Strategies Workshop for High School Students, their parents and teachers was held on October 14, 2004, at Cohasset High School. An additional Study Skills Strategies Workshop for Middle School Students, their parents and teachers was held on November 9, 2004.
Three of Senior Lecturer George Herman's paintings were purchased by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for their collection.
Congratulations to Associate Professor Patricia Mytkowicz for successfully defending her doctoral dissertation. Pat's committee unanimously approved her dissertation on second language learners with learning disabilities with NO changes. Kudos to Dr. Mytkowicz!
Dr. Mytkowicz has an article in the winter 2005 edition of Essential Teacher, published by Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. (TESOL). "Digital Portfolios for Diverse Learners" describes her experience implementing electronic portfolios for individualized instruction and assessment with multilingual students enrolled in American Language and Culture, a course designed to improve students' oral and written communication, academic English and awareness of American culture. |

• Littlefield Lecture Series - Bill Reynolds
Writer in Residence Bill Littlefield will welcome author and columnist Bill Reynolds to Cu r ry College for the next Littlefield Lecture Series event.
Bill Reynolds will discuss and sign copies of his book COUSY: His Life, Career, and the Birth of Big - Time Basketball which explores Cousy's upbringing, his career with the Celtics and as a coach for Boston College and the Cincinnati Royals. Reynolds, coauthor of Success Is a Choice with Rick Pitino, has won numerous awards for his columns in The Providence Journal, and is the author of several books, including Fall River Dreams and Glory Days.
This event is free and open to the public.
