ATHLETICS ACCOMPLISHMENTS DRAW LOCAL AND NATIONAL
MEDIA ATTENTION
As the Curry Colonels continue to achieve much success on the
playing fields and on the ice, local and national media outlets
continue to take note.
In November 2003, College Sports T.V. (CSTV) - Channel 610 on
DirectTV - broadcast a segment on the Curry's football team during
the CSTV Pre-Game show prior to a live telecast of Division I
Georgia Southern vs. Furman. Later in the month, WCVB Channel
5 in Boston broadcast a feature segment by sports reporter Mike
Dowling as the Colonels prepared for their NCAA Tournament debut.
Curry's Men's Ice Hockey team was cited
as "the hottest in the nation" by the Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) in its January 6, 2003 news release. The ECAC
reported that Curry jumped up to seventh position in that week's
USCHO national poll, the highest ranking in some time for an ECAC
Northeast team. At press time the Curry claims the top seed for
the 2004 ECAC Division III Northeast Ice Hockey Championship with
an overall season record at 22-2-1, and a 16-0 mark in conference
play.

The Colonels shine during this season's
showdown with Wentworth, scoring the win at 7-2. |
