New Web Information System

Now Available For Students

In December 2003, the College implemented a new service that allows students to access their accounts via the web and provided current students instructions and password information for access. Curry students are now able to view their grade reports, academic transcripts, course schedules, some financial aid information, and personal information such as their addresses and emergency contact information via the web.

This service was made possible through a collaborative effort including staff from the Tech Center, the Registrar's Office, and the Student Financial Services Office.

Tech Center Takes On
Viruses With A Vengeance

Colleges across America have been fighting computer viruses brought onto their campuses this fall. At Curry, the Tech Center believes it is winning this battle, thanks to a variety of early preemptive strikes and continued improvements. Recently the Tech Center purchased yet another weapon in the form of Virus Protection for all resident students. This is provided at no cost to the students and will be installed by Tech Center staff for any student who brings their computer to the Tech Center.

COLONEL'S CORNER AND DRAPKIN DINING ROOM OFFER MORE

Some exciting changes were made to the Drapkin Dining Room and Colonel's Corner Snack Bar over the winter break.

A new "Lunch To Go" area has been established by the entrance to the dining room. Students, faculty and staff can now procure a freshly made sandwich or salad from this location. This service is available Monday through Friday from 11:30a.m. - 1:30p.m. The practice of providing lunches to students during breakfast hours will continue as well.

A second program, "Try It!", will feature a sample food item serving area to tempt the taste buds of all. This program will occur on a monthly basis.

The Colonel's Corner is now serving individualized cooked-to-order items during lunch and dinner as well as free freshly popped popcorn on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

In addition to these dining changes, several large games - air hockey, foosball, electronic darts - a CD jukebox and three televisions have been added to this location for use by all community members. This new "super site" served as the location of the Curry Super Bowl Extravaganza!

Forty-nine community members participated in the first Oxfam World Banquet at Curry College sponsored by the Philosophy 2160 class "Issues in Contemporary Theology." The event was held in November 2003 to allow those concerned about world hunger to gather before Thanksgiving to eat in the manner that the world eats and find out about how life might be in other less fortunate nations.

Achieving the primary goal of raising awareness of the vast scope of world hunger, the event also enabled Curry students to raise a $133.00 contribution for Oxfam America in Boston.

Students and faculty gathered last November for an evening of coffee house style poetry readings co-sponsored by the Curry Arts Journal and the student club for poetry and the arts: Uncensored Soul.

The 2003 Curry Arts Journal is now available online. Feel free to visit www.curry.edu for your reading pleasure!
