A WORD
from the President
In recent years, Curry College has achieved an unprecedented level of success - from the addition of outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs to extraordinary enrollment growth and magnificent campus improvements. Yet, these accomplishments are only a foundation which allows us to set the stage for something even greater - our students' success.
Our campus is a platform where our community acts together with a level of collaboration and camaraderie among students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends which is palpable. It is not only individual actions, but also our community interactions, which allow so many good things to occur at our college as we've seen over the past semester.
Curry proudly co-hosted a Democratic Gubernatorial Candidates Forum with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, The Patriot Ledger, and Marshfield based radio station WATD-FM 95.9. The forum was broadcast live on our own award-winning, student-run radio station WMLN 91.5 FM which can now be heard around the world, streaming online via the Curry College website. Congratulations to Deval Patrick, our 1997 Commencement speaker and Honorary Degree recipient, on his subsequent election and inauguration as Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
We opened the doors to the new Academic and Performance Center, revealing a magnificent building that is now the hub of academic activity and faculty and student interactions on the Quad. This facility allowed our Management Department and MBA program to host the Academy of International Business - Northeast Region Annual Conference, providing our students the opportunity to learn from global business leaders. It also allows our Communication department to present Curry Theatre productions and all departments to host visiting speakers and entertainers in the spacious Oscar B. and Frances A. Keith Auditorium.
Our students and campus community donated over 7,739 pounds of food in a national canned food drive, ranking first in the country for schools of our size and second in the nation, surpassed only by the University of Western Illinois.
Colonels Football earned our fourth straight NEFC Championship title and fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance led by first-year head coach Skip Bandini.
We welcomed new members to the President's Circle Donor Society and extend our sincere gratitude to Marsha and Curt Rodman '78; Roger Gray '65, and Dr. Richard and Carol Iskols Daynard, P '07. Their leadership gifts are an important part of the success we seek for the FY 07 Annual Fund campaign. More than ever, philanthropic assistance is needed to carry out strategic initiatives as we continue to improve campus facilities, including a renovation and expansion to the facilities at 55 Atherton Street, and conceptualize a plan to construct a new Student Center.
As a member of the Curry College community, you are an important and valued partner in helping us achieve our mission and carrying out the important work of our great College on behalf of our students. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement with our College which enables us to continue to create opportunities for today's and tomorrow's students.
