Dr. John Hill Named First Curry Fellow
Dr. John E. Hill, Professor of Politics and History, has been named Curry College's first-ever faculty "Curry Fellow," an honorary position that he will hold from Spring Semester through the Fall Semester 2007.
Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculty David A. Fedo announced Professor Hill's appointment to the community and described his new responsibilities.
"In this unique and special role, John will continue his important scholarly research, be available to students and faculty colleagues as a mentor and helpmate, and will deliver a public presentation to the Curry community, on a topic of his choosing, once each semester," said Dean Fedo. "John will also be teaching one traditional course each semester, on a reduced in-class load, during the term of his appointment.
"He has been a superb classroom teacher and advisor, and there are hundreds of Curry alumni around the world who have been challenged, enlightened and inspired by the breadth and passion of his learning and instruction," remarked Dean Fedo.
Dr. Hill, a valued faculty member at Curry since 1969, has held all of the important faculty positions at the College, serving with distinction both the institution and the AAUP in multiple ways. He has been Chairperson of Politics and History, Coordinator of Integrated Liberal Studies, a member of the Senior Staff, a member of the bargaining unit's negotiating team, and the Chairperson of the Excellence in Teaching Committee.
Dr. Hill has also been a featured scholar and facilitator in various reading series in the Commonwealth sponsored by the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities. In addition, his writings on John Adams and Adam Smith, among others, have been widely disseminated and admired, and his 2000 book, "Revolutionary Values for a New Millennium," provided an insightful new reading on the work of these two great figures. |
