  • Commencement 2009

The Curry College Alumni community added over 800 new members to its ranks on May 17 when the Class of 2009 crossed the stage and received their Curry degrees. We welcome the Class of 2009 to their first edition of @Curry, the e-newsletter for alumni.

Dr. Joan Wallace-Benjamin, President & Chief Executive Officer of The Home for Little Wanderers, served as Commencement speaker and was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters. Melvin B. Drapkin , Vice Chairman of the Curry College Board of Trustees, was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration.

Congratulations to Dr. Wallace Benjamin and Mr. Drapkin and the entire Class of 2009. We wish them well as they continue to live the Curry motto - "Achieve Excellence in All That You Do."

You can view photos from Commencement Week 2009 on our website.

Save the Date for Homecoming 2009

Be sure to mark your calendars for October 2-4. Curry College will be celebrating traditions old and new during Homecoming.

Come cheer on the Colonels as they play a full slate of Homecoming games. Women's Tennis plays Eastern Nazarene at Noon, followed by the annual Homecoming football game against Salve Regina at 1:00 PM and finish the day with Women's and Men's Soccer at 5:00 and 7:30 PM respectively as they take on Regis College.

This will be a great opportunity for alumni who have not been on Campus in a while to see the new Student Center for the first time. There will an Open House after the Football game on Saturday for our alumni and friends to tour this wonderful new facility and see first-hand the impact it will have on our Campus. You will be receiving your invitation with all of the details over the summer but in the meantime, please mark the dates on your calendar!

Feel free to reach out with questions to the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at 617-333-2121 or via email. We look forward to seeing you on campus for the festivities!

The New Student Center Comes to Life

For the past few weeks, visitors have been amazed during their first visits to the Student Center. Visitors have remarked on the rich, warm tones of the woodwork and wallpaper in the dining hall with varied lighting schemes for all occasions, and the distinctiveness of the tile and signage in different food stations of the dining marketplace.

The plasma screens in the fitness center and sports café have been a big hit. The display of Curry pride through the prominent use of Curry purple and the new Curry Colonel logo in the gymnasium and team locker room is one of the many well planned and executed details that will make our new Student Center the destination spot for the community.

Staff have moved in and dining service began in the new Student Center the week of May 26. Visit our website to see more
new interior photos of the Student Center.

    Welcoming New Alumni

On May 12, the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations held a reception at Alumni House celebrating graduating seniors as they prepared to enter the Curry Alumni community.

President Quigley addressed the crowd and emphasized that being a Curry College alumnus/a is something to be extremely proud of, and that the College's goal is to continue to increase the value and prestige of a Curry degree on an annual basis.

Again, welcome to our new alumni! We look forward to the many contributions you will make to our community.

You can view photos from the Welcome Reception on our website.

Thank you for your support of Curry College!

Despite an adverse economic environment, the College enjoyed the highest number of gifts in our history from alumni and parents. There is still a great deal of work to be done but we extend our gratitude to those who participated in Curry's giving program. We look to build on this success in FY'10.

Thank you again for your thoughtful consideration of Curry College and our best wishes for a wonderful summer.
