  • Class of '92 Alum Thriving as ESPN Producer

Salisbury, Massachusetts native and Curry graduate Bryan Ryder '92 is living his dream. Not only does he get to combine his two passions, sports and traveling, but he actually gets paid to do it.

Ryder is a remote sports producer for ESPN (Entertainment Sports Network). Among the events he and his production team cover annually include: SEC College Football, The NFL, NCAA Division I Men's and Women's College Basketball, The College Baseball World Series and The NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

"Getting to travel around the country every week doing something I love is awesome. Before I worked for ESPN I had never even flown before, now I get to travel to places like Florida, Texas, New York, California, even Hawaii and Alaska."

You can read the full story of Bryan's amazing career on our website.

    New York City Reception 2009

The 2009 Curry College NYC reception will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This year's venue is the Lotos Club, located at 5 East 66th Street.

Curry hosts receptions all across the country as a way of reaching out to alumni and parents and helping them stay connected to Curry College. Guests have the opportunity of interacting first hand with President Kenneth K. Quigley Jr., while socializing and networking with fellow members of the Curry community.

To RSVP for this event, please contact the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations,

Share Your Story at Curry Connections

On Wednesday, October 28, Curry will present the 6th annual Curry Connections, a Major, Internships and Career Fair offering students the opportunity to explore different areas of academic interest and get connected on campus.

This year's event will take place at the Miller Field House from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on October 28.

Last year, over 600 students attended the program and truly enjoyed the conversations with faculty and alumni about their undergraduate majors, their career paths, and how they got from one to the other!

If you are interested in participating in this event by staffing a table and talking with Curry students about your career path in a fun, informal environment, please contact Alyssa Samuels in the Office of Alumni Relations.

myCurry Alumni Web Portal is now Live

Curry is excited to announce that our new web portal - myCurry - is now LIVE! We encourage you to visit the Curry web portal to see valuable information that is posted and updated regularly. The web portal is a single sign-on application where you can view campus-wide events on the campus calendar as well as see announcements targeted specifically to you. You may even become a member of a collaborative community within the portal. There are lots of quick links to valuable information so be sure to check it out!

The portal allows Curry to use targeted messaging so you only see information that is related to you. You can access the web portal on the Curry website. You will be asked to log in using your email username. Your portal password is the same as your email password. If you do not know your portal password, please email the Technology Center. Another exciting development is that Curry has migrated to G-Mail as our Student and Alumni email system. You can access your email directly through the portal, using the G-mail quick link option. Alumni now have accounts at G-mail but all your old email still resides in your original "Curry" account. PLEASE note: your email address has NOT changed. It is still username@curry.edu. We will not be copying or moving any saved emails, however, so if there are important emails you have in your old account, be sure to forward them to your new account. Information on how to do this is available on the portal.

Until November 1, any incoming emails will be forwarded to both your old Curry account and your new G-mail account. Once that date has passed, new emails will go to your G-mail account only. On December 20, all emails on the old system will be deleted.

Homecoming 2009 is a Great Success!

Curry College proudly celebrated its annual Homecoming Weekend on October 2-4, 2009. Although the weather was not cooperative at times, the festivities were declared a resounding success by alumni, parents, and students.

Fans were treated to hot drinks and comfort food before watching their Colonels shut down the visiting Salve Regina Seahawks, 19-7. The Men's and Women's Soccer and Women's Tennis team also hosted opponents on Saturday, and by the end of the day all had declared victory, making it a clean sweep for the Colonel squads.

Later in the day, the Student Center was host to an open house event, allowing several different campus groups the opportunity to hold informal receptions. The weekend was also highlighted by several alumni events including reunions of the Classes of 1989 and 1999, which were both well represented Saturday night at the college's beautiful Alumni House.

You can read more about Homecoming & Family Weekend 2009 on our website as well as view the Photo Gallery from the weekend. Thank you to all the alumni and friends who made this weekend so successful!

    2nd Annual Hockey Golf Outing

For the second year, Curry College's Hockey Golf Outing proved to be enjoyable as well as successful by helping to raise over $20,000 for the program. The event, which was held on September 24 at the Plymouth Country Club, hosted more than 80 alumni and friends of Curry College hockey and took place on one of the South Shore's premier private golf courses.

Past players and coaches joined members of the 2009-2010 Colonels on the links in support of the program as it gears up for a championship run. From the weather to the comedy of alum Mark Riley '90, a terrific day was had by all.

Special thanks to the golf committee (Bob Balletto '79, Anthony Campo '79, Brock Foster '74, Kevan Joyce '90, Jayne Savioli, Teresa Hood, Paul Sylvester and Coach Rob Davies) for their hard work and commitment to making the outing a success. Additional thanks to all the event sponsors especially the Leadership Sponsors for the day: The Sylvester and Bavis Families.
