<p>A minor in Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) will provide students with the skills needed to manage a business built on data, software, and artificial intelligence. Students will learn how to design a data architecture that can support the digital transformation of a business by collecting, cleaning, and integrating data from internal and external data sources. Students will learn to make clean, integrated data available to users and other software applications through a data pipeline and APIs. Students will learn how clean, integrated data can be used to analyze business data and solve various business problems.</p>
<p>Student who successfully complete the Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) minor will have the knowledge and skills to: <strong><br /></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Apply appropriate concepts and methodologies to design a data architecture that is aligned with the strategies of the business, facilitates the flow of business processes, and can support the information requirements of managers and other users.</li>
<li>Design queries to analyze data stored in relational databases and acquire relevant business information.</li>
<li>Build code to gather, transform, visualize, and analyze data using machine learning, statistical modeling packages, text analytics, and social network analytics.</li>
<li>Select the most appropriate design and analytics tools to suit various scenarios from the sub-areas of business.</li>
<li>Explain how emerging technologies can be used to store, manipulate, and analyze unstructured data (e.g., social media content, images, email text) to enable better decision-making in business.</li>
<li>Design code to implement machine learning/artificial intelligence models to predict outcomes and provide information that can be used to solve problems in various areas of business.</li>
