Curry College is proud to host "Layers," the 2015 National Juried Student Monotype and Monoprint Exhibition.  "Layers" is presented by The Monotype Guild of New England (MGNE), which is kicking off its 30th anniversary by celebrating emerging student printmakers.  MGNE aims to recognize the merit of undergraduate and graduate printmaking students from across the United States.

"Layers" will be on display in the Hoon Keith Quiet Study Lounge from February 1 thru March 14. The general public is invited to a reception for the artists on Thursday, February 5 at 6:00 p.m.

The works of 16 student artists are showcased in this exhibition: Ren Adams (Lesley University), Victoria Barquin (Massachusetts College of Art and Design), Alexis Dwyer (Iowa State University), Kate Fitzgerald (Slippery Rock University), Jessie Knirsch (Northern Illinois University), Miguel Llavori-Molina (School of the Museum of Fine Arts), Kelly Maker (Massasoit Community College), Daniela Moneta (Arizona State University, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts), Rosetta Nesbitt (Converse College), Adam Rake (Indiana University-Bloomington), Jnate Schirmer (Ohio University), Grace Shand (Massachusetts College of Art and Design), Carter Shappy (Maine College of Art), Maria Victoria Savka (Rochester Institute of Technology), Beth Sunita-Jacobson (St. Catherine University), and Zachary White (University of Massachusetts Dartmouth). Juried by the board of MGNE, the selection of works was based on monotype and monoprints that display excellence, creativity, and innovation. All students who submitted artwork to this showcase were given a free student membership to MGNE.

The Monotype Guild of New England is a nonprofit organization of more than 250 artists working in the medium of monotypes and monoprints. Founded in 1985, the Guild is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of unique, one-of-a-kind prints, through workshops and exhibitions. The Guild's members are primarily from New England; however, there are members from across the Unites States who have sought to be part of an organization dedicated to monotypes and monoprints.
