Welcome to Curry College, Class of 2027!!! During your first weekend here on campus we offer a wide variety of activities for first-year students, including academic and residence life themed events, the annual 'First Night Curry' event, STU Hangout Nites, food trucks, shopping trips, and much more!
*NOTE: All incoming first-year students, regardless of whether they are living on campus or commuting, are required to be a part of Welcome Weekend activities. Transfer students who have 23 or fewer credit hours of post-high school, face-to-face coursework from a regionally accredited traditional college campus will also be required to participate.
First-Year Student Move-in Across Campus

Down Time

We intentionally created space in our day for students and families to rest, run to the store, pick up parking passes, and spend some quality time together. For those not involved in specific programming, lunch is not provided (but dinner will be), so feel free to enjoy one of our several local restaurants!
Commuter Student/Family Gathering
3:00 - 3:45 p.m.
(Check-in begins at 2:45 p.m. at the Hafer Commuter Lounge/Academic Quad)
Hafer Building, Parent’s Lounge
This is a required session for commuters and their families to learn more about commuting to campus, best practices, our new commuter lounge, and to go through the Welcome Weekend schedule. Commuters are expected to participate in all Welcome Weekend activities and will receive all meals during this gathering. The Curry Shuttle schedule will also run during the Welcome Weekend program.
President’s Welcome Ceremony
4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

Students and families will attend this formal welcoming ceremony for all new students. Families will depart after the welcome ceremony as students officially begin the Welcome Weekend schedule.
Final Goodbyes
4:45 - 5:00 p.m.
The “final goodbye” for students and their families before kicking off the academic year.
Orientation Group Meetup
5:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Meet up with your Orientation group from the summer. This will be your group for the entire Welcome Weekend program.

The First-Year staff will present information on expectations of living in the residence halls, relationships with facilities staff, and safety. First, students will meet as a building and then break into floor groups to discuss their community expectations for the year.

Commuter Students will meet and gather based on the geographic location from across the region. Commuter student assistants will facilitate this gathering.
First Night Curry

Celebrate your first night at Curry! Featuring music from Curry’s own DJ Ace, enjoy backyard games like cornhole, KanJam, Ladder ball, Giant Connect 4 & Jenga, badminton, volleyball, and more! Connect with your friends or meet new people in an entertaining and casual atmosphere. Take a break from the fun and enjoy treats from a few of the Curry community’s favorite food trucks. We will also have some fun novelty items on hand—make your own trucker hats, name coloring sheets, and a little bit of henna! (First Night Curry is hosted by the Student Engagement Team.)

Learning Opportunity 1: Canvas Training Session
1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Interested in learning how to navigate Canvas? Pre-register for this workshop to quickly discover Canvas navigation and tips on-campus during this presentational session with Q&A at the end. Students will gain familiarity with Canvas Access, Canvas Global Navigation, User Settings/Profile, Dashboard/Card view, Courses, Calendar, Canvas Conversations, and additional Canvas and Campus resources available to students.
Learning Opportunity 2: Community Service Information Session

Curry College is passionate about being a caring neighbor in our broader community for those in need. We offer a wide range of service opportunities that include campus traditions such as Relay for Life, Alternative Break Trips, and Thanksgiving Baskets. There are service opportunities on campus, with our partnerships in the community, and can be as regular or intermittent as you like. Come learn more about the opportunities we offer and how you may be able to join us!
Learning Opportunity 3: Federal Work Study Information Session

The Federal Work Study Program provides jobs for undergraduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Attend this workshop to find out how to effectively use your work study award.

Join our friend Mike Domitrz for a fun yet empowering conversation on how to build a culture of respect. Win free swag and prizes when you participate in the program and get comfortable asking the million-dollar question, “Can I Kiss You?” This program is one of the most inclusive and sought-after programs for providing specific how-to skills for teaching consent, respect in relationships, bystander intervention, and addressing sexual assault. Compass Club is seeking to introduce Curry College to new incoming students. The purpose of this fun activity is familiarize you not only with our campus but the resources available. You and your group will explore campus, searching for hidden baskets. Each member may take one prize from each basket. Snap a pic and tag @SAOatCurry to be entered in a raffle for additional prizes like a Visa Gift Card, Curry Bookstore Gift Card, Curry swag, and more!

For the 10th consecutive year, Target is hosting private shopping events for incoming college freshmen to gear up for the best years of their lives. Join your fellow classmates for some late-night shopping at the University Ave. Target to get your residence hall room ready to go for the year! Walk down to the Student Center with your friends and jump aboard the Curry shuttle. Each student receives a Target goody bag!
