To kick off the year, the Curry Family Council is hosting Virtual Student Send-Offs. These celebrations are to connect all first-year and transfer students and their families to Curry. Please join us, as a family, for a fun and informative hour.

Our goals for these sessions are simple:

  • Welcome your student and family to Curry
  • Share information on student extracurricular opportunities and academic supports to make your student’s first year at Curry a success
  • Invite you to be part of the Curry Family Council and Leadership Committee
  • Celebrate and toast to your student and your new Curry family

We have put together a full schedule of Zoom gatherings covering many areas of interest. Feel free to register for as many sessions that interest you:

Career Services, Internships and Jobs
Kerrie Aborn and a recent Curry alum
Thursday, July 16, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Kerrie Aborn, Director of Career Services and Experiential Education, will lead this discussion on how current students utilize the Center for Career Development at Curry, the best way to prepare for and seek out the top internship in your field, and how both of these services can lead to real job opportunities in your student’s future. A recent Curry graduate will speak on how taking part in an internship while at Curry led to the career path that they are currently following.

Success After Curry - An Alumni Panel
Curry College Alumni
Thursday, July 30, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
This enlightening session will include a conversation with a diverse panel consisting of Curry College alumni from the past ten years. The discussion will cover topics such as their current careers and how Curry helped lead them there, advice for the incoming class of Curry students, and the best way to get the most out of a Curry education.

Academic Support Services
Dr. Carrie Cokely
Tuesday, August 4, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Carrie Cokely, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, will provide the insight that can spark conversations between you and your student about where they can find the correct resources to guide them through their first year at Curry. There will also be discussion on how students can learn the proper skills so that they may discover their own perfect pathway onto graduation and a successful future.

Curry Radio Station, Podcasts and More
Professor Ken Carberry ’80 and a recent Curry alum from the radio program
Thursday, August 6, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
WMLN-FM, the award winning and student run radio station on the Curry Campus, has been and continues to be, an integral part of so many alumni and current students’ time at the college. Participants in this session will hear from the new Director of the Radio program, Professor Ken Carberry ’80, on his vision for the station moving forward, and from a recent alum on the influence that WMLN-FM had on their career today.
