Curry College LPN-RN Program Overview

The LPN-RN program allows you to quickly take your nursing licensure to the next level. As an LPN, you can get credit by examination for some professional coursework, meaning you’ll take fewer classes at Curry and finish your associate degree faster.

As an LPN-RN student, you

  • Take arts and sciences courses in person or online
  • Are eligible to take the HESI exam to get credit for Fundamentals and Maternity/Pediatrics courses when you score an 850 or higher
  • Can benefit from evening options to best fit your schedule
  • Practice nursing techniques in our state-of-the-art simulation center
  • Apply what you learn by caring for patients at hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Greater Boston
  • Will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam to earn your RN license and practice as a registered nurse

Start When the Time Is Right for You

Life doesn't always follow a traditional schedule—and your education shouldn't have to either. That's why our Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program offers three cohort starts each year, giving you more opportunities to begin your journey toward a rewarding nursing career.

Whether you're finishing prerequisites, balancing work and family responsibilities, or simply ready to take the next step, you can choose the start date that best fits your life.

Choose the cohort that works for you:

  • Fall – August
  • Spring – January
  • Summer – May

With three opportunities to enroll each year, you don't have to put your goals on hold. Find the start date that fits your schedule and move one step closer to becoming a registered nurse.

  1. Pre-requisite courses:
    1. For High School/GED/HiSET completion (no college coursework completed)
      1. Math: Two (2) years of math - one year must be algebra. Final grade of C+ or higher.
      2. Science: One (1) year of laboratory sciences (i.e. Life Science with lab). Final grade of C+ or higher.
    2. For Transfer Students and Associate Degree Holders, Students with a Prior Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree OR a score of 50 or higher on the Algebra CLEP exam
      1. 3 credit college-level algebra course – C+ or higher (Pre-Algebra will not count towards this pre-requisite requirement)
      2. 4 credit college-level science course – C+ or higher
  2. ATI TEAS Version 7 scores (Minimum scores: Reading 69%, Math 63%, English 60%, and Science 46%):
    • All applicants to the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program are required to complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) as part of the admissions process.
    • The TEAS exam must be taken at an approved, in‑person proctored testing site (such as a college testing center or authorized testing facility). TEAS exams taken remotely or online from home are not accepted for admission consideration.
    • Official TEAS scores must be submitted according to program application deadlines. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the exam is taken in a proctored setting and that official scores are sent to the College by the required date.
    • Applicants are encouraged to plan accordingly and confirm testing arrangements in advance.
  3. Proof of High School diploma/ High School Transcript or higher degree
  4. GPA Requirement: 2.7 cumulative for all applicants (3.0 for Master's or Doctorate degree holders)
  5. College Transcripts if applicable
  6. A $25 application fee
  7. Applicants with an active LPN license who want consideration for advancement placement must Select LPN to RN Advanced Placement on the ASN application
    • LPN License Number for LPN-RN applicants
    • CNA License Number if applicable

School of Nursing and Health Sciences Associate of Science in Nursing Degree Program Outcomes:

  1. Utilize clinical judgement, with consideration of patients’ culture, preferences, values and needs, to provide patient-centered care across the lifespan (Patient-Centered Care).
  2. Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for the delivery of standards-based nursing care that is consistent with ethical, legal, and regulatory practice (Professionalism).
  3. Collaborate with patient and interdisciplinary teams, employing effective communication skills, to achieve quality patient outcomes (Teamwork and Collaboration and Communication).

Effective July 13, 2026, the Associate of Science in Nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires in Fall 2028.
