Dr. Maureen L. Murphy has been employed at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts since 2003 achieving the rank of Associate Professor in 2008. Dr. Murphy currently serves as Chairperson of the Nursing Division.
Dr. Murphy initially received a diploma in nursing from the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing located in Massachusetts. She received her BSN from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, MSN from Case Western Reserve University, and MEd from Curry College. Dr. Murphy earned a PhD in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. She completed a midwifery program of study at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, now known as the Frontier Nursing University. Dr. Murphy has been Board Certified as a Nurse Midwife through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) since 1994. She is an active member in the American College of Nurse Midwives, serves as an expert witness in cases involving maternal-newborn and women's health nursing, and maintains a current part time maternal-newborn clinical practice.
Dr. Murphy's primary program of research focuses on: determinants of nurse-midwifery screening and intervention practices related to postpartum onset depressive mood disorders, Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) imbedded curriculums, and best practices that promote academic integrity.
Dr. Murphy is member of the: Theta-at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, International Center for Academic Integrity, American College of Nurse-Midwives, Massachusetts Nurses Association, and American Association of University Professors.
