Muse: An Exhibition of Artwork by Curry College Studio Art and Design Majors
According to Merriam-Webster, a muse is simply “a source of inspiration.” The student artists featured in this exhibition have drawn inspiration from a variety of sources both historical and contemporary. Many of the artworks on display were made after a class trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, in response to particular artworks that the students had a personal appreciation for. Other artworks in the exhibit were inspired by personal experiences. Regardless of the initial inspiration, each work in the show represents a new and innovative take on the source, which captures the artist’s creativity and originality. “Each artist had to wake up…look about, look within, and find if he can invent for himself a vehicle for his self-expression.” (Robert Henri, The Art Spirit, 1923)
