Student smiling in class at Curry College pursuing an Individually Initiated Major Degree at Curry CollegeAn Individually Initiated Major (IIM) or minor provides you an opportunity to develop a path that demonstrates a depth of learning and a unique combination of two or more subject areas. With the assistance of faculty advisors, you will design a coherent sequence of studies selected from academic areas or subjects listed in the College Catalog. Such study allows you the freedom to construct a unique major or minor that encourages creative synthesis of inter-relationships across disciplines. Adherence to the steps and deadlines outlined below is critical to timely completion of your degree.

 Former professional ballroom dancer and runner Adrianne Haslet, who survived the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, will serve as Commencement Speaker at Curry College’s 2024 Commencement on May 19 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass.

Curry Students Recognized with Mathematics Awards

 Three Curry College seniors were recently recognized for their outstanding academic performances with awards from the Mathematics Area at Curry College. Caroline McDonald, Harrison Dean, and Ashley Almeida were each given plaques marking their achievements and contributions to mathematics and mathematics education.

Jay Gonzalez Inaugurated as Curry College’s Fifteenth President

 Jay Gonzalez was ceremoniously inaugurated as the fifteenth President of Curry College on Friday, April 12, 2024 in a series of events that honored the history and future of the institution. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, college and university delegates, and other special guests gathered inside the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium to celebrate Gonzalez, who began his tenure as President of the College on July 31, 2023.

Curry College to be First in Massachusetts to Offer Job Guarantee

 President Jay Gonzalez announced at his Inauguration this afternoon that Curry College will be the first college in Massachusetts to offer a job guarantee program, called The Curry Commitment, beginning with the current freshmen Class of 2027.

Fourth Annual Day of Giving Boasts Record-Setting Engagement

 The Fourth Annual “Curry Counts” Day of Giving raised over $100,000 from 544 supporters, the highest participation total since the fundraiser’s launch in 2021. The community-wide crowdfunding event saw contributions from Curry alumni, faculty, staff, students, families, and friends, who came together and raised funds for institutional priorities such as academic programs, athletics, student financial needs, PAL, and more.

VITA Program Offers Tax Preparation Experience and Community Interaction for Curry Accounting Students

 Since 2019, Curry College has been easing the burden on local taxpayers by making it possible for a group of accounting students to become certified to serve in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. To get ready for their VITA work, students learn the TaxWise preparation software in the fall through Associate Lecturer Janet Peterson’s one-credit VITA class.
