Triad: Boston's Choral Collective recently performed Dr. Julian Bryson's composition A Parable of Choices, as part of a program called "New Wine | Old Bottles." The program featured choral music from the past 25 years, designed to present a musical tradition in a new light.

Dr. Bryson was inspired to write A Parable of Choices after singing Benjamin Britten's War Requiem as a member of the University of Kentucky Chorale in 2013. He says he wanted to explore the thematic and philosophical questions that Britten's composition raised for him.

"May this parable challenge each of us to choose wisely as we confront the unrelenting duality of pride and humility," Dr. Bryson says.

A Parable of Choices won the 2017 Yale Glee Club Emerging Composers Competition .
