The Curry chapter of national criminal justice honor society Alpha Phi Sigma recently hosted a Q&A session with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS).

Several DYS staff members attended the event, including Curry alumnus and DYS Group Worker Anthony Valentino '17, Assistant Program Director of the Metro Pre-Trial Unit Emmanuel Sutton, Assistant Program Director of the Metro Treatment Unit Demetrius Solomon, and DYS Human Resources representative Robin McTomney.

The team presented the DYS model of care, which aims to "make communities safer by improving the life outcomes for youth." In response to students' questions, the DYS staffers also shared how they approach the demands of their jobs, by finding meaning and hope amidst difficult circumstances and remembering the enormous impact DYS employees can have on Massachusetts youth.

Chapter President RJ Silva, Class of 2018, arranged the session.
