Criminal Justice Student Catherine Fitzgerald '23 Awarded for Teaching Sign Language to Police

Curry College criminal justice major Catherine Fitzgerald (Class of 2023) was recently recognized at the 21st Annual Oticon Focus on People Awards for her work in the community.  These annual awards are described as a "program dedicated to honoring individuals with hearing loss and the hearing care professionals who open new possibilities for the hearing impaired community."

Fitzgerald was awarded for teaching sign language to members of the Mansfield, MA police department as a senior in high school.

Her community service efforts continue to garner national attention from various media outlets. Fitzgerald's mission is close to her heart because she was born with significant hearing loss.
