President Kenneth K. Quigley, Jr. is pleased to announce that W. Patrick Hughes has been elected as board chair of the Curry College Board of Trustees. Mr. Hughes, who most recently served as vice chair, was elected to his new role at the end-of-the-year Board meeting. Hughes, the father of the late Justin P. Hughes, a 1996 honor graduate of Curry College, has been a trustee since October 2013. "I've learned much from Pat Hughes over the years, and I'm better for it. More importantly Curry College is better for it," remarked President Kenneth K. Quigley, Jr. "Pat will be a tremendous leader for our College."
After graduating from Boston University in 1970, Pat Hughes was drafted into the NFL, where he excelled in a 10-year career as a linebacker, primarily with the New York Giants and also with the New Orleans Saints. Upon retirement from the NFL, Hughes launched a leadership career in the healthcare field. Most recently, Pat served as the President and CEO of Fallon Community Health Plan, one of New England's largest health insurers. Hughes and his wife Carole have established two endowed scholarships at Curry College to honor the memory of their son Justin.
