Build a Cybersecurity Career, One Certification at a Time
Cyberattacks aren't slowing down, and neither is the demand for people who can stop them. The Curry College Center for Innovation and Professional Development now offers the entire CompTIA Cybersecurity Pathway, the complete, industry-recognized route from your first IT credential to expert-level security certification.
Each course is instructor-led, runs for eight weeks, and includes hands-on labs and your exam voucher. Take one course to build a specific skill, or work straight through the full pathway to move from beginner to job-ready cybersecurity professional.
The CompTIA Cybersecurity Pathway is a stackable sequence of six certifications, each building directly on the last. You'll start with the fundamentals of IT hardware, software, and networking, then move into the security-specific skills employers are actively hiring for: threat detection, penetration testing, and advanced security architecture.
Curry College delivers every course in this pathway with live instruction, not just recorded video. You'll work through real labs, ask questions in real time, and finish each eight-week term ready to sit for that certification's exam.
Whether you're new to IT, moving into a security-focused role, or filling in gaps in your existing credentials, you can join the pathway at the point that matches where you are.

A+ — Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and mobile devices
Network+ — Design, manage, and secure wired and wireless networks
Security+ — Identify threats and vulnerabilities, apply access control and identity management, and secure hybrid environments including cloud, mobile, and IoT
CySA+ — Detect and respond to security incidents using behavioral analytics and threat intelligence
PenTest+ — Plan and execute penetration tests, and report on vulnerabilities like an ethical hacker
SecurityX — Design and implement enterprise-level security solutions across complex, hybrid environments
By the time you complete the pathway, you'll hold six certifications that carry real weight with employers, plus the hands-on experience to back them up.
This pathway works for career changers, recent graduates, and IT professionals looking to specialize in security. There are no prerequisites for A+ or Network+. CompTIA recommends some hands-on networking and administration experience before Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, and SecurityX, though you're welcome to start the coursework and build that experience alongside it.
Do I have to take all six courses?
No. You can enroll in any single course based on where you are in your career. Many students start with Security+ if they already hold A+ and Network+, or an equivalent background.
Is each course really only eight weeks?
Yes. Each certification course runs as its own eight-week, instructor-led term. You'll finish one before moving to the next.
What's included in the $2,500 tuition?
Instruction, all hands-on labs, and your certification exam voucher are included in each course.
Do I need to take CySA+ and PenTest+ in order?
No. Both build on Security+ and represent two different professional specializations, threat analysis and penetration testing. You can take one or both before moving on to SecurityX.
Is this program eligible for financial aid?
This is a non-credit program, so it doesn't qualify for federal aid, FAFSA, or Pell Grants. Some employers and workforce development boards offer funding. Reach out to our team to see what might apply to you.
Will I get support while I'm in the course?
Yes. Every course includes live instructor interaction and access to hands-on labs throughout the term.
Whether you're taking your first step into IT or working toward an expert-level security credential, Curry College's Center for Innovation and Professional Development will walk the pathway with you.
