The School of Nursing recently established its first Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) with Tufts Medical Center and the Floating Hospital for Children. The DEU is designed to enhance the student learning experience and foster professional growth among participating registered nurses. Clinical Scholars, also known as DEU Nurses, promote clinical learning by working directly with the same pair of Nursing students over the course of the semester. The Clinical Instructor mentors the Clinical Scholars and acts as a liaison between the classroom and the clinical experience.

The DEU offers many benefits to the School of Nursing including clinical placements for students, improved clinical learning, opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and attributes that facilitate inter-professional communication directly in the clinical setting, and increased student control over learning.
