This summer, Curry College students are gaining valuable hands-on experience through internships in a variety of industries. These opportunities are helping our students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom while preparing for their future careers.
Audrey Bennet ‘27
Business Administration Major, Marketing Minor
HR/Payroll Intern, Community Health Resources (CHR)
Rising senior Audrey Bennett is spending her summer as an HR/Payroll Intern at Community Health Resources (CHR), where she combines her passion for organization and attention to detail with meaningful work that supports employees.
Inspired by CHR’s mission-driven environment, Audrey was drawn to payroll because of its unique blend of finance and human resources. She enjoys work that requires precision and takes pride in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
“My favorite part of the internship so far has been working directly on employee pay stubs alongside my supervisor to calculate and process overtime pay,” Audrey shared. “This work has a significant impact on employees, which makes it especially meaningful.”
Audrey credits Curry’s finance, accounting, and Excel for Business courses with preparing her for technical aspects of the role. She also says that being a member of the Curry College Dance Team strengthened her teamwork skills, allowing her to collaborate effectively with her supervisor and Payroll Specialist.
Devin Barr ‘27
Communication Major (Video and Film Editing)
Westborough TV
Communications major Devin Barr is gaining hands-on production experience as an intern at Westborough TV. Interested in pursuing a career in video and film editing, Devin applied for this internship knowing it would provide valuable real-world experience and help him build the skills needed for his future career. “The reason I wanted to apply for this internship was that I felt like I could learn so much about what I want to do in the future,” he said.
Devin says the coursework he’s completed at Curry has already proven to be valuable, especially by giving him hands-on experience he can use in the workplace. His advice to future interns is simple: “work hard and try to find something that you have true interest in doing.”
Brandon Dunn ‘30
Communication Major
Cape Cod Baseball League
Brandon Dunn, a native of Falmouth on Cape Cod, is spending his summer with the Cape Cod Baseball League- an opportunity that came through persistence and initiative. In his current role, Brandon serves as a “red hat” during the Cape Cod Baseball League broadcasts. When games pause for commercial breaks, he is responsible for stopping play and communicating with the field until he receives the signal that the broadcast is ready to resume. He also assists both the Cape Cod Baseball League staff and the CBS production crew with any needs that arise during the games, giving him valuable behind-the-scenes experience in live sports broadcasting.
Looking back, Brandon encourages students to take the initiative when pursuing opportunities. “I would advise everyone to reach out to anyone at all and try to gain as much experience as possible,” he said.
JaLissa Pyle ‘26
Communication Major (Film and Public Relations)
Cru of Two
JaLissa Pyle, a senior Communication major with a concentration in Film and Public Relations, is interning with Cru of Two, a women-founded public relations agency, where she assists with building media lists for clients, coverage scanning, and other behind-the-scenes agency work.
JaLissa was inspired to apply for this internship because of its hybrid work environment and the opportunity to work for a women-founded agency. She was also drawn to the smaller agency's close relationships with its clients, which allow her to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the public relations industry.
One of JaLissa’s primary responsibilities is coverage scanning, where she monitors media outlets to track client mentions and news coverage. Her favorite part of the internship has been pitching stories and product launches to journalists.
Her advice for students searching for internships is to start building a strong resume and portfolio as early as possible. “Employers want to see your work and understand the experience you already have,” she says. “Having examples of your work can make a big difference during the application process.”
Cameron O’Toole
Communication Major
Wellesley Media
Cameron O’Toole is a rising senior majoring in Communication, and is spending his summer interning with Wellesley Media, where he is gaining hands-on experience working behind the scenes on local production.
Throughout the summer, Cameron has enjoyed working with cameras on set and editing the footage he captures, giving him the opportunity to develop both his technical and creative skills. In addition to learning the production process, he says the internship has strengthened his communication skills by teaching him how to collaborate effectively with his coworkers. He credits his experience at Curry with preparing him for this role, particularly through group projects that emphasized teamwork, communication, and building relationships with others.
For students searching for internships, Cameron encourages them to always think ahead and be prepared to adapt. He notes that schedules can change unexpectedly, and being flexible and proactive can help interns navigate and keep projects moving forward.
