Labouré College of Healthcare and Curry College have reached an agreement to transition Labouré’s nursing programs to Curry’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences and to establish the Labouré Center for Advancing Healthcare Opportunity at Curry College. Labouré, which has prepared nurses and healthcare professionals to serve Greater Boston and beyond for 135 years, will cease academic operations in August, 2026. The agreement has been approved by the governing boards of both institutions and is subject to final approval by state and federal regulators.

The Labouré Center for Advancing Healthcare Opportunity at Curry College will provide the access, resources, and support Labouré has provided to its student population of local adults, English language learners, and current healthcare workers to further their success consistent with Labouré’s mission.

“In Curry College, we have found a partner committed to carrying forth the Labouré mission to educate exceptional nurses who represent the rich diversity of our community and deliver skilled, equitable, and dignified care to patients across Massachusetts,” said Labouré President Lily Hsu. “This agreement provides the resources necessary to sustain this mission and prepare the next generation of nurses. We believe Curry will be a steward of our values and preserve accessible nursing degree education for the students we serve.”

The addition of Labouré’s nursing programs and support services to Curry’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences brings together two longstanding and well-respected nurse educators to create one of the largest, comprehensive nursing schools in New England, offering associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Labouré to establish the Labouré Center at Curry, and we are committed to continuing Labouré’s mission of preserving access for the diverse, adult student population it serves,” said Jay Gonzalez, President of Curry College. “By creating the Labouré Center and adding Laboure’s nursing programs to Curry’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, we are furthering the sustainability of this education for the benefit of the students and for the healthcare providers in our region who desperately need these nurses. We are honored to welcome Labouré’s students and generations of Labouré alumni to our campus and community.”

With support from Curry leadership, Labouré faculty and staff transitioning to Curry College will continue to advance the mission that has guided Labouré for more than a century—to educate nurses who represent the communities they serve, stand as informed patient advocates, and address inequalities in healthcare and society.

Current Labouré nursing students who transfer to Curry will have the opportunity to complete their programs without interruption and graduate with fully accredited degrees. All Labouré students will continue to be served throughout the transition, with a careful integration process in place to ensure stability and support.
