The information below will answer many common questions about staying healthy at Curry College.

What do I do if I get sick?

During Health Center hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. – we are closed from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.):

  • Call 617-333-2182 to make an appointment or Schedule an appointment online through the PyraMed Health Portal (find the 'My Appointment' tab in myCurry).

After hours, Nights, Weekends, Holidays, or College breaks:

  • Use TimelyCare App for 24/7 virtual urgent or mental health care. It’s free for students!
  • Talk to your Community Director (CD), Resident Assistant (RA), or Public Safety.
  • Visit a nearby urgent care or emergency room for serious issues.

For emergencies:

  • On campus: Call Public Safety at 617-333-2222.
  • Off campus: Dial 911.

Where is the Health Center?

The Health Center is at 1016 Brush Hill Avenue, 2nd floor. It’s in a brown house with white trim, behind Bell Hall and next to the Admission Building.

Do I need an appointment to be seen?

The Health Center operates on an appointment-based model to provide efficient and timely care. If you are experiencing an urgent health concern, you may walk in and we will make every effort to assist you.

Book appointments by:

  • Phone: 617-333-2182, option 2
  • Online: PyraMed Health Portal ('My Appointment' tab in myCurry)
  • Email: healthservices@curry.edu

How much does a Health Center visit cost?

Your health insurance is billed for visits and lab tests. You won’t pay co-pays, co-insurance, or deductibles for most services. If your insurance denies a claim, you won’t owe anything.

How do I get my prescription medicine?

  • The Health Center sends prescriptions to nearby pharmacies for you to pick up.
  • We partner with Capsule Pharmacy to deliver medications to campus. Sign up with their QR code or App. https://www.capsule.com
  • If you have a medication from a Specialty Pharmacy, contact them to change your address and coordinate delivery with the Campus Mail Room.

Can the Health Center do blood tests or X-rays?

  • Blood tests: Yes, we work with a lab and can draw blood.
  • X-rays: No, we do not have an X-ray machine. We refer to BI Milton Outpatient Radiology.
  • Cost: Your insurance is billed. You may owe co-pays or deductibles based on your plan.

What if I’m sick and miss class?

Notify your professor as soon as you can. Check your syllabus for their rules. The Health Center doesn’t give excuse notes but can provide a visit verification form. If you fall behind due to illness, contact your Academic Advisor, and the Office of Academic Success, or for serious/ongoing illness, Accessibility Services.

Are my Health Center visits private?

  • Yes, your visits are private and protected by law. Once you turn 18, we don’t share information with parents unless you sign a medical release form, or it’s a life-threatening emergency.
  • Massachusetts PATCH ACT protects access to confidential services by ensuring these are not disclosed on insurance documents sent to the primary plan subscriber.

Does the Health Center give flu shots?

Yes, we offer flu shot clinics on campus in the fall. Check our website or Instagram for dates.

Can I store my medications at the Health Center?

No, we do not store personal medications. You can store them in your residence hall room.

Can I get allergy shots at the Health Center?

No, we do not provide allergy shots.

How does student health insurance work?

Massachusetts law requires all students (at least 75% full-time) to have health insurance. You’re automatically enrolled in the Curry College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) unless you waive it. To waive SHIP you must prove you have comparable insurance and complete the waiver on the Curry Health Center website. For details, contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1731 or info@univhealthplans.com.

Will my out-of-state or international insurance work at Curry?

Many out-of-state or international or traveler’s insurance plans only cover providers near your home, not in Milton, MA, and do not provide comparable coverage. Use the Student Health Plan Comparison Worksheet to see if your plan provides comparable coverage. If it doesn’t, you need to enroll in the Curry College SHIP.

Does the Health Center do physical exams?

No, we do not do routine physicals. A physical is not required to attend Curry unless you are an NCAA athlete.  Check with the Curry Athletics Department about NCAA requirements.

What should I bring to campus for health?

Bring these items to stay prepared:

  • Thermometer (check that it works) and First aid kit with Band-Aids, antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone cream
  • Pain/fever relievers (e.g., Tylenol, Ibuprofen), cough/cold medicines, throat lozenges, teas, allergy pills, or electrolyte drinks
  • Prescription medications (including inhalers, injection supplies or nebulizer machine) and Epi-Pens or rescue medications (e.g., for seizures, hypoglycemia)
  • Supply of foods you like when you are sick like soups, crackers, Gatorade, ginger ale
