Curry College has been named a member of the FirstGen Forward Network, a national recognition program dedicated to higher education institutions committed to advancing the success of first-generation college students.
A first-generation student is someone who is the first in their immediate family to attend college. This includes students whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university. At Curry, 26% of the total undergraduate student population are first-generation students.
The FirstGen Forward Network provides a three-phase framework designed to help institutions scale holistic first-generation student success, transforming the student experience, strengthening academic and co-curricular outcomes, and building inclusive institutional structures.
“Being selected as a FirstGen Forward Network Member is a tremendous honor for Curry College and a reflection of our commitment to supporting first-generation students,” said Lisa Rodrigues, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. “This opportunity will connect us with a national community of institutions dedicated to removing barriers, sharing proven strategies, and creating new pathways for student success. Through the workshops, peer learning, and professional development offered by the Network, we’ll be able to bring back innovative ideas and best practices that will directly benefit our students, empowering them to thrive both at Curry and beyond.”
As members of the program, Curry College will:

Curry College joins the Network after a competitive application process. During the first year, Network Members engage in monthly workshops, peer learning opportunities, and professional development sessions while contributing to a nationwide knowledge-sharing community. Members can progress to Network Leader status and ultimately achieve Network Champion designation by demonstrating a measurable impact and sustained commitment to the success of first-generation students.
