Mr. Allen retired as the Chief of Police of the East Bridgewater (MA) Police Department in March of 2020, after a 25-plus year law enforcement career.  Mr.  Allen’s career began in 1994 as a corrections officer before his full-time appointment to the East Bridgewater Police Department in 1996.

During his policing career, Mr. Allen engaged in a variety of roles and responsibilities, including working as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Evidence Officer, Domestic Violence Specialist, Drug Task Force Investigator, and Major Crimes Task Force Commanding Officer before his promotion to Chief of Police in July of 2016.

Mr. Allen retired from the police department to pursue his passion and advocacy working with communities in addressing substance use disorders and related behavioral health issues.  He was co-creator of a county-wide public safety, public health initiative, Plymouth County Outreach, which is recognized by the Bureau of Justice Administration (BJA) as a national mentor site for community health issues through collaborative community responses.  He has presented on his work in this Pre-Arrest Diversion, Deflection field at the White House, U.S. Capitol, and other national conferences.  He is the Chief Operating Officer of a national company that focuses on training, mentoring, and providing technical assistance to states, counties, and municipalities in this field.

Mr. Allen spent much of his law enforcement career working and supervising major crimes and drug investigations.  He is an expert investigator, including investigations and successful prosecutions of home invasions, drug offenses, sexual assaults, robberies, computer crimes, death investigations, other felonies, felony conspiracies, and internal investigations.  He testified as an expert witness in Massachusetts district and superior courts as well as in U.S. federal court.

Mr. Allen was the co-creator of a regional major crimes and drug task force in 1997 that continues today to serve the communities of East Bridgewater, Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Whitman, and Bridgewater State University populations (WEB Major Crimes and Drug Task Force).

He began teaching at Curry College in the spring of 2021.  He has been an instructor for the Massachusetts Police Training Committee, teaching police recruits and in-service training to veteran officers.

Mr. Allen earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Plymouth State University (1993) and a Master of Science Degree from Western New England University (1998).  He has been dedicated to the residents of East Bridgewater and surrounding region, volunteering for the East Bridgewater Community Drug Council, EB HOPE, Plymouth County Outreach HOPE and numerous different youth sports organizations in East Bridgewater.  He is a sports enthusiast, having coached both boys’ and girls’ sports for over 15 years.  Mr. Allen lives in East Bridgewater with his wife and three children.
