Donna Amado joined Curry College as adjunct faculty in September of 2016 to teach Periop 101.  Donna has been a perioperative clinical educator since 2003 after practicing perioperative nursing for 15 years prior to that.  Donna is currently a full time perioperative nurse educator at Boston Medical Center and the current President of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Massachusetts Chapter 1.  She became a registered nurse (RN) in 1987, first with an Associate’s Degree from Bristol Community College (BCC) and later returned for BSN through University of Phoenix and then MS in Nursing from Regis University with a certificate in Health Care Education.  Donna has been CNOR certified in operating room (OR) nursing since 1989.  She is also a Reiki Master and a certified TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer.

Donna has presented at AORN meetings locally and has had five poster presentations at national AORN annual Expo, when she has repeatedly served as a delegate and delegate chair.  Aside from fundamental perioperative patient safety, her specific areas of interest include team dynamics and communication in the OR and resiliency development in nurses.
