Bachelor of Science, Statistics, Ondokuz Mayıs University
Dr. Damla Ilter Fakhouri got her Ph.D. in January 2021. Her doctorate is in “Statistics” and her thesis subject is “Hybrid Approaches Based on Artificial Intelligence and Multilevel Logistic Model in Credit Scoring”. In addition, within the scope of the Scientific Research Project, she was a Visiting Researcher (2018 – 2019) in the Department of Statistics at the University of Connecticut, U.S.A. She worked as a Statistics Instructor (2009-2013) at Karacan Academy, Türkiye. Beginning in 2013 at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Department of Statistics, she advanced from Statistics Specialist to Lecturer (2018 - 2021), PhD Lecturer (2021 - 2023), and ultimately Assistant Professor (2023–2025). The courses she taught at the university where she worked are: “Applied Statistics”, “Probability and Statistics”, “Risk Analyses”, “Time Series”, “Statistics in Social Science”, “Non-parametric Statistics Applications”, “Bayesian Statistics” for bachelor’s degree, and “Machine Learning”, “Variance Analyses” for master’s degree. Causal inference and causal statistical learning topics related to her experiences that she teaches, for example, are researching literature, coding, and analysis with R, MATLAB, EViews, SPSS, and Python for complex and big data using artificial intelligence, neural networks, or machine learning. She regularly gives certificate courses about Statistical Data Analysis training in R Programming Language and IBM SPSS. As an educator, she is committed to fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments that bridge theoretical foundations with real-world applications. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that statistical literacy is an essential tool for critical thinking and informed decision-making across all disciplines. She emphasizes clarity, engagement, and relevance by incorporating case studies, data-driven projects, and interdisciplinary perspectives into her instruction. She is a member of the Turkish Statistics Association, the International Statistical Institute (ISI/ISBIS/y-BIS), and the International Chinese Statistical Association.
