Melanie Reeves Associate Lecturer
Writing Program

Melanie D. Reeves works in education and is a writer. Reeves has over 15 years of experience in working in roles at Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Suffolk University. Most recently, Reeves taught literature at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE). Her teaching and research interests include Human Rights Pedagogy, World Literature, African American Literature, Southern Literature, Criticism, Gender Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, and Fiction Writing. Reeves is also interested in adding Indigenous Literature as part of her teaching and research interests.

Reeves holds a master’s degree in Literature & Creative Writing from Harvard University and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. Reeves also holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in Journalism from Suffolk University and the other in English with a concentration in Writing from Northeastern University. Reeves also holds an associate’s degree in Communications from Mount Ida College.

Reeves’ original play Boxing with Mom was featured in “The Boston Globe Magazine” and was also reprinted in the textbook Communications 2000. She appeared on Talk of New England and on WBUR to discuss her play. Tufts University awarded Reeves the winner of an essay competition where contestants had to write on the role of a minority professional in the community.

Reeves is the proud aunt of 25 nieces and nephews.
