Get a Head Start this Summer!

Curry College is excited to offer the newest members of our community the chance to get a head start on their first college semester! New First-Year students are invited to register for one free Online Summer Course beginning the week of July 10. Sign up by June 30 for one of the Summer Online courses listed below, each for a total of 3 credits, running online in an asynchronous format (unless otherwise noted) from July 10 to August 24. Only one free course is allowed per student and there are a limited number of seats in each class. Space in the classes is offered on a first-come-first-served basis and will close when all seats are filled.

Your Summer Online Course is free of charge; however, we do require a non-refundable $250 course deposit which will be credited to your fall tuition charges (credits will be applied around October 1).

To register, please Select and Register for the Online Summer Course you would like to take – There are a limited number of seats in each course and they will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once you have completed the registration below, you will receive an email with step-by-step details for submitting your $250 Summer Course deposit. As previously noted, the deposit will be applied to your Fall 2023 semester charges as a tuition credit after successful completion of your Summer Online Course and after the fall semester Add/Drop period has ended (approximately October 1). The deposit is non-refundable if you withdraw from the course or the College. You will not be fully registered for the class until we receive your deposit.

Additional information on your course will be emailed to you a week or two in advance of your class start. Please note, all email correspondence regarding your summer class will be sent to your Curry College email address.

Summer 2023 Courses/Registration:

Introduction to Business presents a broad introduction to the functioning of businesses. It is designed to give students an understanding of what the business arena is all about, how a business operates and which business functions are needed in any enterprise. Topics covered include accounting, finance, marketing, information and legal systems, operations, business ethics and social responsibility, leadership and decision making, and human resources.

This course is a requirement for the following majors:

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Marketing
  • Sport & Recreation Management

Register for this Class

Communication Technology is a foundation course combining communication and technology history, theory and practice. Covers the basics of utilizing and assessing a variety of digital resources. Students acquire and apply the communication skills and technologies that are integral to academic and career success. New and emerging communication technologies that aid in developing communication skills, such as persuasion and communication delivery to varied audiences, will be discussed.

This course is recommended for the following majors:

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Education
  • Marketing
  • Sport & Recreation Management

Non-majors (except for Communication) can apply this course to the following Gen Ed requirement:

  • First Year Core Communication

Statistics I explores the collection, organization, analysis, and inference of data in multiple contexts through statistical methods. Requires students to discuss quantitative results, interpret multiple representations (symbolic, graphical, numerical, verbal) of quantitative information, and solve problems using quantitative methods, particularly linear regression and correlation, the construction of confidence intervals, and tests of hypotheses. Demonstrated proficiency on the Math assessment or prior approval required.

This course requires meeting once a week, on Wednesday’s from 5:30-6:45 pm on Zoom.

Students can apply this course to the following Gen Ed requirement:

  • First Year Core Quantitative Literacy

Register for this Class

This course will introduce students to all the major areas of health and how they affect their lives. Health promotion, wellness and empowerment will be discussed and analyzed in relation to each health component. Upon completion of this course, students will have a better understanding of the importance their personal decisions make on their health.

This course fills a requirement for the following major:

  • Public Health & Wellness

Non-majors can apply this course to the following Gen Ed requirement:

  • Wellness

Introduction to Psychology  is an introductory course concerned with the methods and principles of psychology. Major emphasis is placed upon the theoretical aspects of psychology. Topics include research methods, perceptions, basic learning processes, memory and cognition, the biological basis of behavior, motivation, personality and individual differences, abnormal behavior and its treatment, and social influence processes.

This course fills a requirement for the following majors:

  • Psychology
  • Nursing
  • Exploratory Health Professions

Non-majors can apply this course to the following Gen Ed requirement:

  • Social Science Breadth

Register for this Class

This course serves as an introduction to the kinds of reading and writing students will be exposed to in college. Emphasis on the developing confidence as writers, especially students' identities as writers through practice and reflection. This course will present strategies for critical reading, purposeful revision, and reflection.

This course fills a requirement for ALL MAJORS. Credits can also be used to fulfill General Education First Year Core requirement.
