Associate Professor of International Relations in the Politics and History Department, Dr. Grant Burrier completed his Ph.D. at the University of New Mexico, writing his dissertation on infrastructure investments and sustainable development in Brazil. A recipient of several fellowships and research grants, he has made numerous conference presentations and has written extensively on Latin American politics, political economy, and environmental policy. While at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Burrier initiated two study abroad programs taking students to Brazil and Cuba. In 2017, he took 17 Curry students to Cuba to study the island's unique political system and culture. In 2018, he traveled with 10 students to central Mexico and Oaxaca, exploring the nation's rich indigenous heritage and visiting 6 UNESCO World Heritage sites. This upcoming year, Argentina is on the docket. Students will explore cosmopolitan Buenos Aires before heading into the Pampas to appreciate gaucho culture and take in the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls.

Over the years, he has taught Comparative Politics, International Relations, Environmental Politics & Social Movements, several courses on Latin American Politics, and multiple levels of Spanish language courses.
