Juan Hernandez joined Curry College in 2024, coming from Goucher College where he served as the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Title IX since 2020. In that role, he directly supervised both The Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Identity and the Office of Title IX. He is a social justice focused scholar practitioner. In his work, he has always prioritized advocating for underrepresented and underserved members of his communities, worked to educate the community on issues of identity, diversity, and inclusion, and has facilitated interaction between diverse groups of community members while creating an environment that respects and celebrates the uniqueness of all community members.

Juan was born in Puerto Rico, but was raised in Chicago, Illinois. After receiving a prestigious Posse Foundation Leadership Scholarship, he attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. While at Trinity, Juan double majored in Political Science and History, then received a Master’s Degree in Public Policy, with a concentration in Education Policy. Afterwards, he attended the University of Hartford, where he received a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership.
