Academic ExcellenceProfessor Michelle LeBlanc is joining the Education Department as a full-time member of the Department moving from the rank of Senior Lecturer to Instructor, while assuming the role of Director of Field Experiences. She has been a faculty member at Curry College since 2003, having first started as a program supervisor in the Master of Education Program. In 2008, she became a senior lecturer, and has held a full-time special appointment during her years at Curry. In addition to teaching a variety of courses, Michelle has held various administrative roles focused on field experiences, licensing regulations and external accreditation. Currently, she is serving as the Chairperson of the Education Department, and Licensure Officer. Michelle completed her undergraduate teacher preparation program from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is a proud alumnus of the Curry College Master of Education Program. Michelle is currently working on finishing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration at Northeastern University. Her dissertation, entitled "Leveraging Pre-Service Preparation of Elementary Teachers", focuses on the preparedness of elementary teachers for the classroom based on the perceptions of hiring principals and novice elementary teachers. Her most recent conference presentations and professional activities have focused on integrating the elements of the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation system into pre-practicum and practicum experiences for teacher candidates and serving on external accreditation teams for educator preparation programs.
