Dr. Maureen O'Shea has been a faculty member of the Curry College Division of Nursing since 2003. Her background includes experience in a variety of clinical settings: Medical-Surgical, Intensive Care, and Emergency Department nursing. She has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in long-term and sub-acute care facilities in the Boston area. She currently practices as a Nurse Practitioner for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Palliative Care Service.

Areas of interest include effective communication practices, ethical considerations of daily nursing practice, older adult health, wellness, and palliative care issues; and advance care decisional support. Dr. O'Shea has received grant funding from the National Student Nurse Association for interdisciplinary support of peer-mentoring educational initiatives.

Professional memberships include: Epsilon Beta chapter charter member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing; the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners; the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association; The Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, and The American Nurses Association.

Dr. O'Shea teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs: Health Assessment, Advanced Health Assessment, Adult Health theory and Clinical Coordination, and Nursing Care of the Older Adult.

Dr. O'Shea values the opportunity to share in the development and education of future nurses.
