Since joining Curry in 2023, Jay Gonzalez is leading the College through a dynamic period of transformation and growth as its 15th president—and its first Hispanic leader. Under his leadership, and through a new three-year strategic plan, Curry launched the Curry Commitment—the only job guarantee program of its kind in Massachusetts—reinforcing the College’s dedication to student success.

This campus-wide community-driven strategic plan initiative includes the creation of the Career and Experiential Learning Center, expanded career readiness programming, and established the Curry Connector program with hundreds of employer partners and counting.

Under President Gonzalez’s leadership, the College has launched innovative academic programs aligned with market demands, including a new Exercise Science major, updated Business and Communication programs, and new master’s degrees. He also introduced the President’s Leadership Program and the President’s Speaker Series to cultivate lifelong leadership among students.

Curry’s legacy of supporting students with learning differences continues to grow through the new Neurodiversity Center for Excellence, which includes innovative programs like SAIL, Curry Catalyst, and Curry Compass. These initiatives extend beyond campus, offering training and support to neurodivergent workers in industries such as health insurance, biotech, and law.

Under Gonzalez’s leadership, Curry’s athletics program has expanded with new teams in men’s volleyball and track & field, and in 2025, the men’s hockey team made history as the #1 ranked team in the country and competed in the NCAA Frozen Four. Student life has flourished with increased funding for events, new spaces like the Esports Lounge and Commuter Lounge, and popular additions like Einstein Bros. Bagels and Graham, the campus’s beloved mascot.

Financially, Curry has seen consecutive years of improved results and record-breaking fundraising, reflecting a unified community effort across faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters.

Prior to joining Curry, Gonzalez served as a partner at Hinckley Allen, advising governmental entities on capital projects and strategic initiatives. He previously held the role of Secretary of Administration and Finance for Massachusetts, managing a $32 billion budget during the Great Recession. His career also includes leadership in healthcare as president and CEO of CeltiCare Health Plan and New Hampshire Healthy Families, and he was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Massachusetts in 2018.

Gonzalez earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He has taught as an adjunct lecturer at Northeastern University School of Law and has served on numerous nonprofit boards.
