Dr. Courtney James, DPT, is the Exercise Science Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor at Curry College. A licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, educator, and practitioner, she brings together expertise in clinical practice, higher education, and applied health sciences to prepare the next generation of Exercise Science professionals.

Dr. James leads the development and coordination of Curry's Exercise Science program, designing curriculum that integrates evidence-based learning with hands-on, experiential education. She also oversaw the creation and implementation of the College's state-of-the-art Exercise Science Laboratory, providing students with opportunities to develop practical skills using industry-standard equipment and techniques.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. James continues to see patients for Physical Therapy, hoping to always bring real-world application into the classroom. She also serves as a therapeutic device product design consultant, collaborating on the development and testing of innovative consumer health technologies.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the connection between science and practice, encouraging students to think critically, apply evidence-based principles, and develop the confidence and skills needed for careers in exercise science, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, healthcare, and wellness. Through mentorship and real-world learning experiences, Dr. James is committed to helping students become compassionate, knowledgeable, and adaptable health professionals.
