“Demonstrating flawless technique and excellent breath control (CVNC),” flautist Dr. Pauline Jung’s performance career has led her through Slovakia, Austria, South Korea and the United States. She has been soloist several times with the Slovak State Opera Chamber Orchestra, with the Mid Atlantic Wind Symphony, and with the University of North Carolina Symphony Orchestra. She is principal flutist of the Boston Civic Symphony and has performed in guest roles with others including the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and Lexington Symphony Orchestra. She has won many prizes at competitions including third prize at the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, second prize at the James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition, and first prize at the Doriot Anthony Dwyer Flute Merit Award.

Dr. Jung serves as a Private Music Instructor at Curry College and Weston Public Schools, an Education and Community Engagement Teaching Fellow with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and as flute faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Flute Workshop. She has taught at Boston University as a private teacher and Concert Band coach, and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Summer Youth Music program as flute faculty.

Dr. Jung holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, where she studied with Brooks de Wetter-Smith, Jonathan Keeble and Linda Toote.
