James McCormack served as a senior lecturer, and assistant department chair as a fulltime faculty at Bentley University. At Bentley he taught courses in strategy, operations, and project management. He served as the course coordinator for the capstone strategy course at Bentley. He has previously taught at Roger Williams University, Bridgewater State University, Emerson College, Emmanuel College, and Endicott College. Mr. McCormack has taught leadership, communications, strategy and project management courses with RWU for the Rhode Island Interlocal Risk Management Trust, Justice System Training and Research Institute, the Middle East Project Initiative, The Office of Library and Information Systems Rhode Island Department of Administration, and the RWU MBA program.

Mr. McCormack has transitioned to higher education from the business sector and has over 30 years of business experience with a focus on start-ups, publishing and Internet business. Mr. McCormack was the Vice President of Production, Operations & Technology and an original member of the start-up team that launched Cook's Illustrated, Cook’s Country and America's Test Kitchen, a member of the senior management team for fifteen years.

Mr. McCormack is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Boston and has his MBA from Nichols College. Besides his "regular" career, Mr. McCormack was a career Army reservist, retiring in 2020 with over 39 years of service with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He has served as an Infantry company commander, rifle platoon leader, company executive officer, intelligence, and operations staff officer and a senior instructor with the nation’s oldest state military academy at the 101st Regional Training Institute at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts.

Mr. McCormack continues a consulting practice, the Second Chance Group, offering consulting services and courses, such as the Business Boot Camp, aimed at helping small and veteran owned businesses. A recent client is the Department of Homeland Security where McCormack developed and delivered a communication course for the DHS Federal Protective Service officers in region I (New England).
