Rishabh Goenka ’25 Practicing KarateWhen Rishabh Goenka ‘25 began his college search, he was looking for a place that not only recognized different learning styles, but supported them. Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age while living in Kanpur, India, Rishabh experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating education in an environment that didn’t always understand learning differences. Four years later, Rishabh sees himself as a completely changed person, thanks to Curry College.

Rishabh chose Curry not only for its strong Business programs and international student scholarship opportunities, but also for the globally recognized Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL), which he says, changed his life.

“With PAL, you have a one-on-one support system anytime you need it,” he said. “You can walk into a session stressed out about an exam, and somehow you walk out feeling calm and positive. It’s like magic.”

Since arriving at Curry in the Fall of 2022, Rishabh made the Dean’s List every semester and was inducted into the Alexander Graham Bell Honor Society. He’s proud of his academic accomplishments, especially in traditionally more challenging subjects like Statistics, which once intimidated him.

Through the School of Business and Technology, he found classes that brought global business concepts to life through case studies and real-world problem solving. He also applied skills he learned in the classroom to global hands-on experience when he completed a three-month internship at Asia Ecosphere, India’s largest waste management company.

As an international student, adjusting to a new country came with challenges, but the relationships he built in Curry’s close-knit community made all the difference.

Getting involved outside of the classroom played a major role in Rishabh’s adjustment and positive experience. He was an active member of the Karate Club, a runner for the Cross Country Team, and regularly participated in campus events. “I always tell other students, just join something. Be part of a club, go to an event, you’ll meet people and feel connected,” he said. For Rishabh, that connection also stemmed through cultural celebrations. “We celebrate all festivals like Holi, Diwali, Eid, Ramadan, and more. It feels like equal space for everybody.”

“Curry has helped me grow in dimensions I cannot express it in words. I can never thank this College enough,” said Rishabh, reflecting on the wholesome experience he had at Curry. “The community, the PAL program, and the sense of belonging that Curry has offered me is amazing.”
