The Learning Commons 3rd Level Common Area

The Office of Marketing and Communications possesses the expertise to shoot, hire photography services, and/or select the photos best suited for your publication/project. Where appropriate, a MarComm team member will provide options from which campus partners may choose, accessible through our web-based digital asset management (DAM) media collective.

Should you wish to submit your own photography for a print publication, we ask that you submit high-resolution (600 dpi) color digital files of the photos. We can use color prints, black and white prints, or in special cases hard copies of images, but these involve scanning, which may require extra time.

Note: The Office of Marketing and Communications does not currently employ a full-time photographer. We outsource most of our still photography services to contracted professionals.

Although Marketing and Communications can capture still photography using the services of our video content producer and/or student-workers in a pinch, most of our photography is outsourced using contracted professionals.

If you are requesting new, specific photos, our team can either assist in scheduling a photo shoot with a contracted professional and/or advise you on the style and type of photos to capture. Photo shoots should typically be scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance and may be subject to specific conditions (weather, timing of classroom or athletic events, etc.); please plan accordingly.

Typical Photo Process:

  • Capture images (ranging from dozens to hundreds)
  • Import and de-dupe
  • Process/color correct
  • Export and upload to Digital Asset Management (DAM) System
  • Input meta data (keywords, etc.)
  • Create and share collection with team and/or client
  • Publish (if applicable)

Our imagery is warm, friendly, active, and represents the vitality and diversity of the Curry community. It is recommended to use thoughtful image cropping to highlight details to convey a visual message.

Project Approval

Please note that a request for photography and/or videography services via the Office of Marketing and Communications does not necessarily guarantee coverage. The team receives hundreds of requests for these types of services annually, and cannot logistically cover each and every event. Our priorities are based on strategic marketing initiatives to support the College.

In the case that we cannot fulfill a particular photo or video request, we can offer alternative solutions via our consultation services.

Talent Release

The Office of Marketing and Communications employs a full-time video content producer who captures, shares publicly, and archives still and motion imagery of Curry College campus life on a daily basis. In the case of more personal photography and videography  (i.e. one-on-one student, faculty, and alumni profiles and news features) we ask that subjects complete the following talent release form to grant permission of usage to the College.

Depending on the specific request, departments may be billed for still photography services beginning at a rate of $175/hr.

Campus partners will also need to provide payment for any custom photography, scanning, framing and/or incidental services. Our team will consult with you ahead of time in such cases and provide an estimate for approval prior to project start.

The Office of Marketing and Communication team receives hundreds of video and photo requests from campus partners annually, and unfortunately cannot logistically cover each and every event. In the case that our team is unable to fulfill a particular photo or video request, we can offer alternative solutions via our consultation services - this includes best practices on capturing images and video (via smartphone) depending on the channel for which the media is intended.
