Explore the dramatic landscapes of Iceland while studying how water shapes ecosystems! This short-term travel course combines weekly Curry College classes with an immersive Spring Break experience in Iceland. Investigate hydrologic processes and their impact on ecology, human activity, and the environment through hands-on field studies in one of the planet’s most unique ecosystems.
During your trip, you’ll observe Iceland’s rivers, glaciers, and wetlands, connecting classroom theory to real-world ecological patterns. Learn how land use affects the hydrologic cycle and, in turn, the plants, animals, and communities that rely on these systems. Guided by Professors Elizabeth Wade and colleagues, you’ll gain a deep understanding of water’s role in both ecosystems and human well-being.
The travel fee of $4,000 covers airfare, accommodations, and excursions, while tuition is included in your spring semester credit load. Students should have completed at least 24 credits and meet the GPA and standing requirements.
Dive into the science of hydrology, witness Iceland’s extraordinary ecology, and return with a global perspective on the vital connections between water and life.
