Begin Your Internship Journey Sophomore Year!

Accounting majors begin building professional experience during their sophomore year through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where they prepare tax returns for members of the local community while developing valuable technical and client-service skills. During their junior and senior years, students are highly encouraged to complete internships with local and regional accounting firms, including Frazier & Deeter, Britt & Company, and CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA), gaining real-world experience and building strong professional networks before graduation.

Many of our accounting graduates continue their professional development by pursuing nationally recognized credentials, including the CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CFP (Certified Financial Planner), EA (Enrolled Agent), and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designations.

As an Accounting major, you’ll already have all of your Master of Science in Accounting degree prerequisites covered. Enroll in our MSA program immediately after graduation, and you’ll be 10 months away from completing your 150-credit requirement for the CPA. The 10-course program prepares you to sit for the CPA exam, while expanding your career opportunities.
