Students choosing their meal at Curry College

Dining & Meal Plan Policy for Resident Students

In accordance with the Undergraduate Housing and Meal Plan Agreement, a meal plan is required for all undergraduate students who live in a residence hall.

Curry College takes dietary needs seriously and we understand that health and safety are essential to a successful college experience. Our goal is to provide students with the tools and support they need to be active in the management of their food allergy or food related medical condition while on campus.

We work closely with Sodexo Dining Services to provide students with complicated medical nutrition needs support and guidance on how to safely navigate food choices on campus.

Students with Food Allergies

The following options are offered in our dining halls for students with food allergies:

Simple Zone

  • This designated area offers products that are free from tree nuts, peanuts, and gluten.
  • They utilize equipment to ensure those with celiac disease, food allergies or intolerances have a safe space to obtain food.
  • The pantry houses breads, cereals, condiments and desserts with precautions and procedures in place to prevent contamination.

Simple Servings Station*

  • Simple Servings Station is a designated area for students dining with food allergies and sensitivities.
  • Simple Servings Station operates for lunch and dinner periods, seven days a week.
  • Menu items prepared within the station are made without eight major food allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, wheat, and soy.
  • All food offered at the Simple Servings Station are made without gluten containing products.
  • Fish dishes are included in the varied menu options as a healthy protein choice, along with beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and vegetarian items.
  • All managers are AllerTrain U certified on food allergies, celiac disease and understanding the importance of preventing cross-contamination during preparation.
  • Dedicated “purple” equipment and utensils are utilized in the preparation of allergen friendly menu items at food stations.
  • Meetings can be scheduled with the registered Dietitian to discuss food allergies and other restrictions, and learn what additional accommodations we can provide. See more information on scheduling meetings with the Dietician.

*Please be aware that separate equipment, storage areas, utensils, and preparation areas minimize, but do not totally eliminate, the chances of gluten and allergens in the Simple Servings.

Requesting a Meal Plan Accommodation

Please contact either the Director of Dining Services or the Executive Chef from Sodexo Dining Services to arrange a meeting. During this meeting, staff will further educate the student on dining opportunities specific to their nutritional concern and introduce the student to allergen trained staff, etc.

If after meeting with a staff member it is felt that a Meal Plan Accommodation will be necessary to access appropriate nutrition while at Curry, please follow the steps listed below. Curry College has set up a procedure to ensure that all requests are appropriately considered. All meal plan accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual basis. Accessibility Services may consult with Sodexo Dining staff to determine eligibility for a meal plan accommodation.

  • Have a medical provider complete and submit the Dietary Conditions Provider form. Without proper documentation, your application will be considered incomplete.
  • As part of the interactive process, a student meeting is required. This meeting will only be scheduled after the submitted documentation has been reviewed.
  • Any approval under this policy is valid for one academic year, if approved prior to, or during, the fall semester. If the accommodation is approved after the fall semester, the approval is valid for the spring semester only. To receive the same accommodation in each academic year, students must resubmit the Dietary Conditions Provider form.
