You can declare a minor in dance to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of a dance minor with a major in community health and wellness, psychology, visual arts, or business management, for example, may lead to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration. A minor in dance may also enhance the preparation and competitiveness of students enrolled in the educator licensure majors.
The Curry College Dance Program is rooted in the liberal arts and our award-winning faculty, boasting years of professional dance experience, provides students with individualized mentorship and the skills necessary not only to succeed in dance, but also in other areas they may choose to pursue.
Students from the Dept. of Fine and Applied Arts/Dance Program and Assistant Professor Christine Bennett recently attended an Aerial Dance master class at Boston University. The class teaches dancers how to climb, swing, drop, flip, spin, and perform using aerial silk material suspended from the rafters. When done correctly, dancers give the illusion that they are flying and dancing in midair.
Don't just take our word for it. Read about the Dance program from the students themselves. It doesn't matter what your major is, minoring in Dance will enhance your life both here at Curry and in your career after graduation.
