Requirements for Sociology Minor
Students can earn a minor in Sociology by taking one of the prerequisites and four courses in the sociology curriculum at the 2000-level or above, with at least one course at the 3000-level.
"Many of my professors have their own clinical practices, and they bring their professional experiences into our classroom discussions. And that is so much more interesting than just reading from a textbook. I feel like everything I am learning in my classes will prepare me for a real-world clinical setting - it makes me really excited to start my own practice," says Shannon Griffith '16.
Caitlyn De Serres' dream job is to one day become a family counselor, leading her to pursue a double major in psychology and sociology. "I don't think people realize how much counseling can help. Even if you don't have severe problems in your life, just talking to someone is really helpful in making your experience with something better. I want to be able do that for children and families."
