Take the first step in an ongoing course of study designed to provide exciting academic and professional opportunities to exceptional students with an interest in the field of communication, who are ready to challenge themselves with a more adventurous and demanding curriculum. Your schedule will include some first year classes designated just for you and your fellow Scholars. In the fall, Communication Scholars students will take Communications 1010 (Fundamentals of Communication), as well as their writing course together. In the spring, students will take a second course in the Communication major.

What to Expect

  • A Living Learning Community Mentor (current Communication Scholar) present and available to support students through their academic experience and provide targeted programming on course themes
  • Group social and academic activities both in and out of the residence hall open only to Communication Scholars. Opportunities include private dinners with leaders in the communication industry, and a fast track to your first communication internship
  • Opportunities to support fellow participants through study and tutor sessions

Academic Course Load: 6 credits during fall semester, 4 credits during spring semester

Location:  North Campus Residence Hall (NCRH)
Roommate Policy: Roommate must be a participant in one of the three LLC programs housed in NCRH (see note on housing found at First-Year Living Learning Communities)
Restrictions: Only open to Communication majors


Accepted students invited to participate in the Communication Scholars program will receive application materials to the mailing address provided through the Curry College application. Applicants can access and submit the application online or download, complete, and mail the paper app.
