Class of 2021 Conclude Extraordinary College Experience in Commencement Celebration

On a summer-like day, Curry College honored 687 graduates from the Class of 2021 in its 141st Commencement celebration. The ceremony, to which graduates were allowed to invite two guests, was live streamed today from the Walter M. Katz field to approximately 2,300 family members, friends, alumni, faculty and staff among other Curry community members.

Curry College Celebrates the Class of 2020 in Historic In-Person Commencement

Curry College honored 689 graduates from the Class of 2020 in its 140th Commencement celebration on Saturday, May 22, 2021. The ceremony, to which graduates were allowed to invite two guests, was live-streamed from the Walter M. Katz field to approximately 800 family members, friends, alumni, faculty and staff among other Curry community members. The in-person ceremony was especially cherished after a year-plus of adversity and uncertainty stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, including an unprecedented remote final semester at the College last spring.

This month, the College honored the best and brightest during its 52nd Annual Curry College Awards Recognition Ceremony, which was held as a week-long social media campaign to honor the amazing accomplishments of the 2020-21 academic year. Biochemistry Students Present Research at Prestigious National Science Symposium

In the spring semester of her first year at Curry, Sarah Tadman ’21 began collaborating with Dr. Sandor Kadar on new research examining the association between electric magnetic fields near power lines and childhood leukemia cases. Now, just weeks before graduating, the Biochemistry major has recently presented her findings – after roughly seven semesters of research – at the New England Science Symposium (NESS).

Every spring, Curry College students have the opportunity to present their academic research, creative portfolios, and other culminating projects to the College community including faculty, staff, and fellow students at the annual Academic Forum. This year, the event took place virtually on April 21 and featured nearly 40 student presentations across all majors and stages in the iterative process of discovery and academic inquiry.

‘Industry Nights’ Help Students Make Key Job Connections

In the last three weeks, more than 100 employers met virtually with Curry College students to network and potentially fill hundreds of open positions, from internships to part and full-time jobs. The new "Industry Night" career fair series led by the Center for Career Development featured five virtual events organized by industry to allow students of related majors to meet with potential employers from their desired career fields.

New Minors Expand Career Pathways for Students

This week as students begin to meet with their academic advisors to plan for fall classes and review academic goals, they can now consider adding a new minor. The College recently added art therapy, critical inequality studies, finance, photography, and video gaming studies to its academic catalog, all of which are designed to help students explore interests, build skills, and expand career pathways.
