“I can't stress enough how amazing it is to have an opportunity to gain real world experience in the business world while still in school, especially at a company as well-known as Reebok. And I'm wasn't just sitting on the sidelines and observing; some of my responsibilities included supporting the U.S. Trade Marketing Team, attending photo shoots, working with our products during go-to-market roll outs, and much more.”

Are you creative? Want to explore a variety of different art forms? Do you dream of becoming a professional artist someday? Then the studio arts major may be for you.
Graduates with bachelor's degrees in the studio arts are valued in many fields for their creative problem solving skills and their visual literacy.
Studio Arts Careers
As a Curry College student in the studio arts major you will receive the artistic and academic background necessary to advance your creative work. You will be prepared for a diverse range of professions in education, museums, galleries, and arts organizations. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop your portfolio for graduate school and learn how to promote your work as a professional artist.
Studio Arts as a MAJOR
The studio arts major at Curry College offers a wide variety of classes at the introductory and advanced level. In the introductory classes you become familiar with the fundamentals. As you advance through the program you master techniques and are encouraged to be a thoughtful and engaged participant in the creative process. The major allows you to experience classes in traditional two and three-dimensional studio arts and in digital and photographic media. It provides a rewarding, fulfilling, and challenging experience.
Studio arts classes include: art, drawing, painting, photography, computer art, sculpture, ceramics and much more.
Studio Arts as a MINOR
You can select a minor in studio arts to complement your major and pursue the opportunity to advance your techniques in another area. The studio arts minor allows you to move through the basic techniques of visual art practice to more advanced skills in the upper level courses. This minor requires an accumulation of 15 credits.
Art History as a MINOR
Students may declare a minor in art history to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of an art history minor with a major in Community Health and Wellness, Psychology, Studio Arts, or Business Management, for example, may lead, respectively, to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration.
Student Art Exhibit
Each spring, the Department of Fine and Applied Arts holds an exhibition of student art work in a variety of media including artists' books, ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The exhibit gives students the opportunity to show their work in a gallery-like setting, and invites the public to view a wide range of student work. For seniors, the spring exhibit serves as a culmination of four years of study.
Internationally Recognized Faculty
The Curry studio arts faculty are active professionals in their field, exhibiting nationally and internationally. In addition, faculty members work in a wide variety of media, including artists books, ceramics, prints, painting, drawing, photography, and installation. Through active participation in professional organizations such as College Art Association (CAA), Boston Print Makers, and New York Center for Book Arts, our faculty bring a wide range of experience into the classroom. The studio arts faculty is dedicated to nurturing the creativity and development of each student. In small classes, individual student growth is emphasized.

"When we do the reviews for the shoes, I always think back to sitting in studio class at Curry, where we'd critique everyone's art pieces...One of my professors, Laurie Alpert, would always say that critiques are not something to be taken personally. In fact they help you progress and make something good, even better." - Nikki Graves '06, Global Quality Assurance Specialist, The Rockport Group.
